The scheme comprised the demolition of the existing Butchery, Deli, and Cake Shop, which were relocated into brand new departments within the store footprint. A party zone was also created at the rear of the store, which was previously taken up by the old Cake Shop. Refurbishment of remaining departments within the store were undertaken, creating a new look to the Bakery, Oven Fresh, Fresh Department and Fishmongers. Furthermore, we carried out a full redecoration of all the existing staff areas.

In addition, both a new Garden Centre and Timpson’s unit were created. This was done by the installation of new glazing to what was the previous trolley storage area, but within the existing footprint of the building.

A challenge of this project was that the store was located on contaminated ground. Consequently, a gas membrane was installed to both areas on the site

The car parks were in part resurfaced, and relined.

All the above works were undertaken in a live trading store environment, requiring careful phasing of work to mitigate disruption to the store and visiting customers.
